Child protection and safeguarding

Our promise

Every child on our campus is safe from abuse of any kind — physical, sexual, emotional or neglect — from any adult or any other student. This policy follows the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and applies to every teacher, warden, cook, driver, guard, contractor and visitor.

Who works here

Every adult who works on the campus is police-verified before they start and gives references we check. Every adult is trained in this policy at joining and every year after.

How adults behave

• No adult is alone with a student behind a closed door. Conversations happen where others can see.
• No adult messages, calls or follows a student on a personal phone or social media. Contact with students goes through the campus, and with parents through the warden’s desk and the admissions office.
• No adult enters a hostel room without a warden present, other than the warden of that block.
• No corporal punishment, no humiliation, no shouting. Discipline follows our campus rules and nothing else.
• No gifts, favours or money between an adult and a student.

Duty to report

Every adult who learns that a child has been harmed, or fears that a child may be, reports it at once to the Child Protection Officer — the Campus Director — and, where the law requires, to the police or the Child Welfare Committee. Failure to report is a dismissal and an offence.

How a student speaks up

To any warden, teacher or the counsellor; to the sealed complaint box outside the warden’s desk, with or without a name; to a parent on their weekly call or on a Sunday; or to the national helplines displayed on every notice board — Childline 1098 and Tele-MANAS 14416. A student who speaks up is believed first and looked after first.

What happens next

The adult concerned is removed from contact with students immediately while the matter is looked into. Parents are called the same day. The student is supported by the counsellor, and by a doctor if needed, for as long as they need. Where the law is involved, we cooperate fully and keep the family informed at every step.

Online

Our campus is gadget-free; students do not carry phones. The learning platform our students use has no advertising and no open messaging with strangers. Photographs and videos of students are handled under our photographs and consent policy.
